About Us

Invest to Elect is a women's political investment organization whose members donate directly to pro-choice Democratic candidates running for Federal office. Our nearly 200 members live in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, range in age from their mid-30s to mid-90s and span the spectrum of professional experiences.

Since our founding in June 2017, our members have directly invested more than $2.2 million in the campaigns of 47 candidates (28 for U.S. Senate and 19 for U.S. House of Representatives) as well as in Organizing Corps 2020 which provided trained personnel for the Presidential race.

Invest to Elect is a member of the Electing Woman Alliance, a national consortium of locally-based political investment groups that independently engage women in support of candidates.

There will never be complete equality until women themselves help to make laws and elect lawmakers.

Our Mission

We are a community of like-minded women who make educated choices about our political investments.  Our members engage in politics through meetings with the candidates and direct donations to them. In addition, our members enjoy frequent opportunities to talk with highly regarded public policy experts, government officials, journalists and nonprofit organizations, on economic, political, health and social issues.

Through the power of the group’s collective donations and actions, Invest to Elect magnifies each member’s impact on the campaigns we support and their outcomes.

What We Do

Volunteer members manage every aspect of Invest to Elect activities including:

  • Identify and research priority candidates for support

  • Meet and vet these potential candidates

  • Prepare candidate briefs for our membership, which then votes on a slate of candidates to support during the year

  • Organize and host candidate events

  • Organize get out the vote efforts

  • Maintain Invest to Elect's growing network

  • Host educational events for our members and their friends

  • Publish a weekly newsletter

  • While COVID-19 currently prevents us from meeting in-person, members are invited to regular Zoom educational and social gatherings to stay connected.

Founders & Steering Committee

Invest to Elect was co-founded by five friends who were inspired to take constructive action after the 2016 election. Since its birth in June 2017, ITE has grown to nearly 200 members and counting and has raised more than $2.2 million for Democratic candidates running for the U.S. Senate and House, as well as initiatives that support the Presidential election.

The co-founders serve as the organization’s steering committee and work closely to guide the organization. Collectively, they have a wealth of experience in building organizations, raising money, bringing people together for a common cause, cultivating participants and partners, executing events, developing strategy, performing research, and managing operations.
